Upcoming DANOS 2012 release

We want to give details of the upcoming release schedule of the DANOS project. We are expecting to make our fourth release of DANOS in the next few weeks, with a fifth release before the first half of 2021.

The DANOS 2012 release will contain many new features since the DANOS 2009 release. These new features include:

  • Upgrade to use FRR 7.4

  • Ingress and egress ACLs - think of these as stateless firewalls

  • User isolation - provides a secure sandbox for users so that they have limited access to the host system

  • Support for AS5912-54X platform

  • Enhanced observability of the dataplane session table used by the stateful firewall and NAT through the "show dataplane session" commands

  • Enhanced control of "show log" to select by time, along with a new "show journal" command

We are aiming to include the following in the first DANOS release of 2021:

  • Upgrade to use FRR 7.5

  • Upgrade to use nDPI 3.4

  • CGNAT FTP and PPTP ALGs

  • A new mechanism to configure how Syslog processes and modifies log messages

We have also published many technical documents that would be of interest to DANOS developers. See Development Documentation for more information.
